Fats Domino - Greatest Hits: Walking to New Orleans

Capitol [2007]

I have been half-heartedly searching lately for some R&B that will blow me away. I know this soulful genre has something that will make my brain explode, I just haven't found it yet.
If you have any suggestions please throw them at me so I can scratch this itch...
We will listen to Domino while I wait...

Crime & The City Solution - Just South of Heaven

Mute [1985]

This is way too good.

CCS was the Australian dirgerock super-group comprised of the enigmatic Rowland S. Howard, Mick Harvey, Harry Howard (Rowland's little brother), and Epic Soundtracks (Swell Maps). This early mini-album is a little bit goth, a little bit blues, and a lot a bit fucked.
Rowland's signature jangle is a force...

The White Stripes - The White Stripes

Sympathy for the Record Industry [1999]

There are some blues-punk rippers on this one.

Not to say that the Sympathy stamp of approval is any real judge of musical merit, but everything the band put out on the label is by far their best work.
I mean, It's no Flat Duo Jets but this shit's got soul for sure...
