GNP Crescendo [1968]
I picked up this little gem the other day and it hasn't left my turntable.
This is probably my favorite live record at this point...
The performance itself is perfect. Not only are all the great songs present, but each and every tune is played with an amount of raw attitude I have never heard from the Seeds up till now ("Gypsy Plays His Drums" is grimey). I mean, I never doubted the proto-punk clout of The Seeds, but this recording is truly punk-as-fuck. Like, the MC5 can suck a dick...
Also, more recordings need a crowd mic. The audience makes this show sound like the greatest thing that ever happened.
