Lizzy Mercier Descloux - Press Color

ZE [1979]

Today is French no wave day. I have declared it...
So, naturally, we are listening to certain Ms. Descloux's classic art-as-fuck dance-wave masterpiece. This is for snorting white drugs and getting weird in your basement.

This is the re-issue version of the album ZE put out in 2010. It's got a bunch of extra tracks. Enjoy.

This is a long overdue post.

Here essential release from the Now Wave instigator's at Skin Graft. Everything about this album is perfect. The astute melding of post punk and art rock creates the perfect mood. It's a neo-no wave masterpiece.

Swans - Cop/Young God/Greed/Holy Money

Young God [1999]

I don't usually post album compilations like this but there is no reason to post one Swans album when this bad boy contains three albums, an EP, and 2 singles.

Swans was one of the greatest bands that ever was.

Nothing is more powerful than Swans.

Turn your speakers all the way up and listen to this until you throw up...
Then listen to it again...

Pleasure Forever - Pleasure Forever

Sub Pop [2001]

Honestly, I wanted to post some Slaves. Slaves is soooo good. Unfortunately, the internet seems somehow empty of any recorded material by the post-VSS, pre-PF band. Oh well.
Instead, you can enjoy a band almost as good as Slaves.

PS. If anyone can find or has either of Slaves' EP's in digital form please share with us. We the people demand SLAVES!!! (ya...)

Crime & The City Solution - Just South of Heaven

Mute [1985]

This is way too good.

CCS was the Australian dirgerock super-group comprised of the enigmatic Rowland S. Howard, Mick Harvey, Harry Howard (Rowland's little brother), and Epic Soundtracks (Swell Maps). The groups was fronted by Tom Waits/ Nick Cave impersonator Simon Bonney. The music is EXACTLY what you would expect by reading that lineup. This early mini-album is a little bit goth, a little bit blues, and a lot a bit fucked.
Rowland's signature jangle is a force...

Chrome - The Visitation

Siren [1976]

This is the first album from San Francisco's psych-punk pioneers Chrome. This album came out before Helios Creed joined the band. Don't worry, it's still good. Maybe not as good as Alien Soundtracks but I felt like posting this album. Deal.

Not from this album but it's too good...

The Chrome Cranks

Bang! [2012]

This was the most pleasant musical surprise of the past year for me by far...

Apparently I don't know shit about anything and my favorite PCP band (sorry Slug, I didn't mean it...)  have been playing for a couple years now. This sweet release is testament to those endeavors and boy is it tasty. As every other blog you have read will mention, this record is pretty much a time capsule back to the early 90's. The band has managed to retain an amount of noise rock integrity that is sure to boggle most (I obviously just wanted to use the word "boggle" right there).

This shit is energetic, loud, distorted, and rock-as-fuck.
