Johnny Dowd - Pictures From Life's Other Side

I have nothing clever to say about this record. Really. I just happen to love Johnny Dowd (as I assume you do also) and this is one of my favorite albums. As with most of his work, it's a little bit gothic country, a little bit funky blues, and a lot a bit absurdly beautiful. The presentation is a fantastic blend of purposeful naivety and experimental maturity. There is no doubt that new listeners will find a sonic resemblance to Tom Waits, but I like to think of him more as the backwoods uncle of Nick Cave... maybe...
