THANK YOU BASED GOD//FUCK MY BITCH BASED GOD (a dedication post)

OKAY-So there is this rapper you may have heard of called Lil B. No no, its not what you think. Yes I heard Wonton Soup too, relax, no need to use the "N" word. Its not like that at all. That is satire. Yes I know he does play "Violate That Bitch" live, again satire (also, to the uninitiated, one of the main points to hiphop/rap is to just have fun and get the party going. Therefore, why not play catchy songs with loads of funny punchlines for people to cook to live? Isn't that more positive and uplifting than giving self-righteous sermons?)

Whether you can dig it or not, you cannot deny the man's perseverance and dedication to rap. Over 1,600 songs recorded and put up on over 150 Myspace accounts, not absent from Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr for more than a few hours. He is dedicated to this. You can tell when he spits how much he loves it. You know the times where he goes off beat? That's on purpose. He's like a jazz musician. He know exactly what he's doing at all times and he loves the reaction it gets, negative or positive.

He is promoting positivity. He takes himself and what he does seriously, but not TOO seriously. He knows that life is meant for happiness. His freestyles (AKA most of the songs of his you've heard) have better punchlines than (al)most (every) rapper's written shit. He turns 22 later this month and he just put out one of the best/freshest rap albums in years. And has been doing tons of BASED mixtapes for the last two years.

Stop hating. Embrace the love. I know its hard, I struggle with it a lot myself.

Here are my favorites, in order of "most accessible":

I'm Gay (I'm Happy)

His latest album, and the most formal of his releases. It is actually up for purchase on iTunes. On the day it came out, he posted a free link to it on his facebook, "This is for all my fans that don't have $10 to get my new album." Verse-based, not reliant on "woop woop swag" as many would expect. "I Hate Myself" is the stand out track to me.

6 Kiss (2009)

6 Kiss is when he started to go from just being based to becoming Based God. He's not just a rapper anymore. He is starting to understand life in ways many never will. He becoming at one with nature. He's not perfect but goddammit he's trying.

Welcome to Based World

Welcome to Based World:
The Based God has arrived. He will not see your hate. He is only himself and will never be anything but that. Also, robots.

The Rain in England

Probably the most based album ever made. If you've made it this far and still want more, dive right on in.
